Nexenta on Flash media
Flash-based media (ex.: CompactFlash, SSD, ...) are somewhat limited in write cycles, though their advantages (no moving parts, extremely low read latency, energy-efficiency, ...) as syspool (there are yet other usages that might give other benefits) on Nexenta might be worth the trouble, given you take actions to lessen writes on this media.
On Nexenta, several steps could be taken in this respect.
- Move swap elsewhere or disable it altogether (see Howto dynamically increase ZFS swap space)
- Redirect log writes to some other media, or through the network to some centralized Syslog server
- Prevent atime writes
- ...
