Finding More Help on Manual Partitioning
The "Getting Started" .PDF ( http://opensolaris.org/os/project/starterkit/install_docs/Nexenta_install.pdf ), on page 7, has this paragraph:
Manual installation remains an option; for the exact steps please refer to _Getting_Started_pages_for_Alpha_1_ (the relevant description starts at Step #3).
That paragraph in the .PDF document provides a very broken URL file:///gswiki/Getting_started-alpha1 (link on page 7) that was likely supposed to read http://www.gnusolaris.org/gswiki/Getting_started-alpha1, but the old site redirects to the main page of the new site http://www.nexenta.org/os/.
Attempting to fix the URL by hand led to this page http://www.nexenta.org/os/Getting_started-alpha1 which was empty prior to my attempt to fix it ...
This formerly blank page suggested a number of URLs that one might try (most were irrelevant), the most relevant one is here: http://www.nexenta.org/os/Getting_Started , but that page does not provide info on the "Manual Partitioning" of your HD (from the Alpha1 docs) as promised in the "Getting Started" manual ...
The only way to get the old page is to try the Internet Archive:
http://web.archive.org/web/20070206174916/http://www.gnusolaris.org/gswiki/
http://web.archive.org/web/20070120180055/www.gnusolaris.org/gswiki/Getting_Started-alpha1
There is also a tiny bit of info here (section #3): http://web.archive.org/web/20060208023007/www.gnusolaris.org/gswiki/Getting_Started
The Way-Back page lists three different dates for this page here: http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.gnusolaris.org/gswiki/
A new URL for partitioning a Solaris drive is here: http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/zfs/docs/ , also helpful is the "ZFS Best Practices Guide" http://www.solarisinternals.com/wiki/index.php/ZFS_Best_Practices_Guide or the "The ZFS Boot Project" page at: http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/zfs/boot/ in the event that you desire to partition your drive manually instead of allowing the Installer to do it.
