As the number of users and applications simultaneously accessing data constantly increase, any given storage server potentially can become a bottleneck, in terms of available I/O bandwidth, CPU, memory, network, and disk I/O resources. Many existing network infrastructures have limitations in their ability to scale. In addition, there is a high cost associated with ever-changing workloads, adding network applications, or upping the number of concurrent users. 

The solution to these issues involves various techniques of spreading the I/O workload over multiple storage servers, which can be integrated to the existing network infrastructure.

The NexentaStor Namespace Cluster Plug-in adds horizontal scalability to NexentaStor, can migrate data and associated workloads between nodes without end-user disruption. It also simplifies management of files for up to 256 storage machines, and can manage multiple nodes from a single node.
